Bali’s Other Islands

Monday, October 31, 2016

Many travellers aren’t aware that there are actually three smaller islands located off the coast of Bali that are in fact extensions of this popular holiday destination. Nusa Lembongan is just a 45 minute journey across the Badung Strait by fast boat. It is encompassed by coral reefs brimming with marine life making it a favourite spot for diving and snorkelling. The island also has world-class waves and it is a paradise for surfing as well as other water sports. Nusa Lembongan is ideal for day trips or overnight stays with a wide range of accommodation options available.

The smaller Nusa Ceningan is separated from Nusa Lembongan by a channel of water that features seaweed farms and a mangrove forest. It too has several surf breaks and the island is marked by scenic roads and pathways that can be explored by motorbike.

Nusa Penida is an hour-long boat ride from Bali and is slightly less commercial than the other two islands with some great points of interest. Crystal Bay is a white sand beach with clear waters, Angels Billabong is a natural infinity pool and the entire southern coast has stunning limestone cliffs.
