Celebrating Authentic Balinese Cuisine

As the only Hindu enclave in the entire Indonesian archipelago, the island of Bali has its own distinct culinary culture. There is the everyday food that is typically eaten at home as well as the more elaborate dishes to accompany ceremonial occasions.

Authentic Balinese cuisine is richly flavoured using an array of different spices and seasonings. Cooking is usually done in the morning after a visit to the market to ensure the freshest ingredients.

Most meals consist of a large scoop of rice accompanied by much smaller portions of meat vegetables and of course a spicy condiment called sambal.
