Discover Local Tastes

The island of Bali has its own distinctive food culture where many dishes are considerably spicier than those inother parts of the Indonesian archipelago. There are a number of local delicacies that visitors are already aware of such as babi guling (suckling roast pig) and ayambetutu (spicy chicken roasted in banana leaves). However, some of the lesser known specialties that should be highlighted include sate lilit (minced seafood satays grilled over hot coals) and a fresh fruit salad tossed in a spicy sauce that is known as rujak. Home-made Balinese cakes filled with palm sugar and grated coconut also deserve a mention as they are simply delicious when paired with an afternoon cup of tea or coffee.
