The Ming Xiaoling Tomb is one of the largest and most beautiful imperial mausoleums in China. As the final resting place of the founder of the Ming Dynasty, the peasant emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, this historic site was built on an expansive, forested garden which also include over 12 pairs of intricately-carved animal statues which still stand today as vigilant sentries against evil spirits on the tomb’s walkway. Modelled after the astral constellation, this remarkable tomb’s construction strictly adhered to the ancient design principles of feng shui.
