The Presidential Palace is considered to be one of the most important and elegant sites in the whole of Nanjing. It embodies Chinese Modern History as it was the centre for the Chiang Kaishek nationalist government regime for twenty years.
The palace displays a combination of Chinese and Western architectural styles and several unique features located within one compound. Some parts of the palace were built over 600 years ago and it is a historical site that exudes old world charm. There are many ceremonial rooms and work offices in this multi-functional compound as well as delightful water ponds, gardens and pavilions.
