Indonesia is a vast archipelago comprising more than 17,000 individual islands. As a result, the nation’s cuisine is diverse and characterized by layers of flavour. Every region has its own unique culinary culture with signature dishes and delicious sweet treats. Although many dishes appear to be quite simple, taste invariably comes from stocks and exotic space pastes made from lots of different ingredients.
For a better understanding about authentic Indonesian and Balinese cuisine, every Kayumanis property conducts a cooking class for the pleasure of in-house guests. The classes provide an opportunity to learn about the indigenous herbs, spices and plant materials used in classic recipes. Participants are shown traditional cooking techniques such as smoking, steaming and grilling. A Kayumanis cooking class is an interactive experience for guests looking to recreate their favourite dishes upon returning home.
